Eszter Schall

Eszter Schall's work has so many wonderful qualities. I love the colours, the surface fluctuations in tone and the wonderful calm, happy illustrations. Eszter is a graphic designer and illustrator from Hungary "Whenever I create things it makes me happy, and I hope that when people see the things I create, they feel that happiness too."

Sunday's are for playing with the cat

Freya is sick today, but we have had great fun making cat boxes for Bellissimo. Quite therapeutic too, making a cat that is sooooo evil (scratchy and bitey) look funny.

Andrew Rae
It is not a very happy moon, but I love the texture of its surface, and for me, the moon is winter, it is the main light, and we have more moon shadows than sun shadows. This piece is by Andrew Rae and I found found it at the wonderful 'Colours of life'.
Grivemune

French artist Grivemune makes these fantastical and surreal pictures starting with a ground of tea stained paper. I haven't used this technique for ages and Grivemune's work reminds me of how much I like methods where the materials dictate (to a certain extent) the composition.

Heysu Lee

Heysu Lee manages to transcribe all of those odd funny thoughts down into art, whether it be an illustration, zine, embroidery, painting or sculpture. She creates magic and fun, taking inspiration for fortune cookies and walks in the park. Currently living and working in New York Heysu was raised in Korea, she studied illustration in London.
Thursdays ...

Thursdays are usually very, very hard for me, a day of difficult classes. Yesterday's teaching however was just fun. I showed the group stills of the Romanian bride in Nuja Jone and then we started painting and applying sequins and glitter with egg white. Creative engaging fun, just what we needed, and lots of happy, strangely coloured faces.

Gustavo Aimar II

Gustavo Aimar also creates beautiful kokeshi and matryoshka, three dimentional illustrative sculptures.
Gustavo Aimar I

I cannot believe that I have not blogged Gustavo Aimar's work before, I am sure this is a mistake, as I have admired it for so long. Anyway my first post in Gustavo's work has to be the almost 'by the by' creativity that inhabits his studio, small happy creations that brighten your day, just what every studio needs.
