Polly Noaks

Another beautiful winter full moon by Polly Noaks. The moon is a joy in our winters, to be appreciated with its incredible rises and sets and its nights of moon shadows, particularly on crisp white snowy nights.

Rob Dunlavey VIII

Winter is upon us and we shall look at the moon with its face in the sun and dream of spring.
A wonderful moon illustration by Rob Dunlavey.

Akira Kusaka

I choose this image for today because I think it is magical, the moon has a stone like quality and so ties in nicely with Beata's stone books and we are entering the time of the moon. By this I mean that here in Scotland the clocks change tonight and more and more it is moon light not sun light that we bathe in.
As I write these posts for you the moon is my silent companion. That strange rock with its worried face has a pull and a power and because it is the light in a dark Scottish winter it needs contemplated.
So here is Japanese illustrator Akira Kusaka's wonderful moon to celebrate the arrival of winter.

Andrew Rae

It is not a very happy moon, but I love the texture of its surface, and for me, the moon is winter, it is the main light, and we have more moon shadows than sun shadows. This piece is by Andrew Rae and I found found it at the wonderful 'Colours of life'.

In the bleak mid winter

I am trying to think of projects for this desolate bleak time of the year for all ages. As it is so dark here, I wanted to do more work with shadows, so today we used shadows of hands or profiles, we traced them and worked into them. This was with students aged 15/16 and the piece shown is by Dylan Moir.

Alicia Valera

I am busy Painting a 'Wedding at Full Moon', in time for a full moon wedding tomorrow. As a blessing to the wedding, a successful painting and a wonderful weekend, here is Alicia's beautiful illustration of a full moon.
