Rob Dunlavey III

Thanks Rob, he is a safe driver and made it all the way from America. It was great to see your work featured on a Book By Its Cover as I caught up on some of my favourite blogs this evening.

Carol W

With sculptures whipped up from paper, slime (as my students call it), stories and fairy tales. Carol W's work is tingling with imagination and fun. Her paper mache creations have graced galleries, shops and cat walks. Please visit her flickr or website as this is a needle in the haystack of her portfolio.

Anton Apchehov

Needed a splash of colour and Anton Apechehov certainly provides that with his wonderful Fish Mask. Antons work is very varied, quite graphic but with some plasticine works and some graffiti work.

Ice Pole Paint Sticks

These ice pole paint sticks were made in a silicone ice tray with a watery paint solution. I made them specifically for one of my students. They are good if you have problems holding materials, and would also be great on hot days for small children to do paintings outside.

Sally Welchman III

Sally has been very busy during her build up to the Brighton Art Festival. This is one of my favourites where Sally has incorporated a nail in a piece of flotsam into her composition, 'The bird with the rusty nail beak'

Zip Lines and mini me's

Taking a lead from the wonderful Joel we have had amazing fun making Zip line mini me's and racing them (often with unfair weight advantages; magnets, erasers ect). Not high art but fun art.

Jumping Jacks

We have also made jumping jacks, here is Lindsey's dalmatian.

Flights of fancy (flying toys).

Above: My demonstration flyer's; Below: Iain Denwitt's Puffin. The beginning of this academic year has been concerned with movement, so we started with balancers, and since then we have had flying toys. These are tricky, you will need to make the wings big . . . find the balancing point with your fingers, by resting the wings across your fore fingers and then string up where they balance best. These models are made with dense cardboard.

Mayako Nakamura

Mayako Nakamura is a Japanese artist who has a wonderful place to show you, in her paintings. Her lines traverse outlines of reality whilst taking you on paths of dreams and abstraction.

Marie Christophe II

I found some more works by the fantastic French wire artist Marie Christophe, again and again I return to artists in this medium, I just love the quality of the lines and the loosely held (caged) space. In this instance it is also the movement communicated in wire form of the afghan dog which is magical.
