Cathy Miles II





Cathy Miles is a Birmingham based artist who sculpts (draws) with wire and found objects, often in her work she focuses on birds and these are some of her characterful pigeons. Her work is currently on display at the as part of the MADE showcase at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park until the 31st May.

Still in a pale and interesting mood and so I am going to share the wire drawing of Susan Graham she has a wonderful giraffe and rhino amongst her wire zoo, but it is her Alfred Hitchcock style birds and their shadows that are flying here.

Bridget Farmer

On a whim, I wanted to look up an artist who's Post Graduate show I saw in 2003 at ECA. Bridget Farmer had written a book and it was lovely. I picked up a card and I have often wandered what had become of her since.

Lynn Jackson

Lyn Jackson is an artist trained as a goldsmith and costume designer who knits with wire. Giving you an x ray image of knitting, a three dimensional structure where you can see the volume and internal shapes that are usually invisible.

Marie Christophe II


I found some more works by the fantastic French wire artist Marie Christophe, again and again I return to artists in this medium, I just love the quality of the lines and the loosely held (caged) space. In this instance it is also the movement communicated in wire form of the afghan dog which is magical.

Cheong Kwang-Ho I

Intricate and delicate in the extreme these are leaf skeleton sculptures constructed from copper wire by Korean artist Cheong Kwang-Ho, these pieces are approximately two meters square and I found them at the interesting Janet Oh Gallery.
