Takako Aoki  often uses watermelon as her inspiration.

In the picture below she has been inspired by a whole fruit bowl.

Yusunari Nagashima

Above are some of the incredible fish portraits by Japanese artist Yusunari Nagashima for his exhibition, 'Days in a Tank'. Yusunari has loved fish since he was a little boy and this love has become an obsessive desire to capture their beauty.

Yoko Yamamoto III

I sought out further images by Yoko Yamamoto. In the image above, I especially admire the way Yoko has used the legs of the birds and animals as music notes.

Yoko Yamamoto II

Illustrations of music, that dance across the page, by Japanese illustrator Yoko Yamamoto whose work is often an incredible visualization of music. Yoko's work is quite dreamlike and rarely constrained by rules of composition, free flowing illustrations that you swim in. Her work reminds me of Marc Chagall's in it's compositional style and its sentiment.

Naoko Yamaji

This collaged Japanese illustration style always amazes and intrigues me it is very naive and wonderfully primitive and I love it. These illustrations are by Naoko Yamaji she often works with the theme of dance and had a solo exhibition 'Dance' in July this year, you can see more of her work here.
Thank you

Komako Sakai I

Beautiful  illustrations by Japanese artist/ illustrator Komako Sakai. Komako Sakai's remind me with their realism and emotion of the work of Paula Modersohn-Becker. Komako worked as  a textile designer before becoming an award winning illustrator.
