Ann P Smith

Above Top to Bottom: Horse, Bug (bee), Antelope
Ah! I do like a good robot, here is the work of Ann P Smith, you can see her website here: http://www.burrowburrow.com/ and also at etsy. She creates these creatures from broken machinery and assimilates them into wonderful robotic; creatures, bugs and birds.

Jae Hyo Lee's work in steel

These structures by Jae are made of steel and are very like trees or dandelions. I have featured Jae Hyo Lee before with his works in the medium of wood. He is an incredibly stylish and prolific artist. http://www.leeart.name

Away for the Weekend

Sorry I am abandoning you all for three days but I promise treasure when I return. Have a wonderful weekend.xx

Sara Noel

I have featured the work of Anna Noel, here are some examples of her sister Sara's wonderful work. Images from www.beauxartsbath.co.uk

Rob Whelpdon

Rob Whelpdon is another fantastically talented graduate of North Staffordshire Polytechnic, his work usually alludes to the sea and boats, which makes me laugh as I grew up in Staffordshire and as a result didn't see the sea until I was 5. Since I was 11 I've never been far from the briney waters, and obviously the salty sea is close to Robs heart. Discovered at: www.montpelliergallery.com

Annie Turner

'Two Mussel Bowl's', these are such a simple idea, so beautifully executed by Annie Turner at Galerie Besson www.galeriebesson.co.uk

Elizabeth Raeburn

Ceramic Whale Tail by Elizabeth Raeburn, http://www.greatbigpointyteeth.com

Mika la Djurop

Found this wonderful ring at www.billcliffegallery.com/ by Mika la Djurop, above is an oxydised silver necklace from Mika la Djurope's own website http://www.djurop.net

Stuart Carey

Stuart Carey's nest of bowls from GSA show Stuart is going on to the RCA. I cannot find his contact details so if anyone knows them please let me know, so I can pass them on.

Ceramics by Ayalin King

These stylish vessels are by Ayalin King, who has just graduated from Glasgow School of Art. It is sad that so many Scottish Art Colleges have abandoned Ceramics, I hope this trend doesn't continue I feel that it is a valuable discipline that we should treasure. I was disappointed that Edinburgh College of Art have abandoned their Tapestry course, true not many of the tapestry students produced tapestries but it gave them something to rebel against and it was a wonderfully eclectic and creative course.

Liza Hooper

Lisa Hooper's 'Bird Alphabet' constructed from etchings, monotypes, collographs and woodcuts. beautiful work and I adore hoopoe's http://www.hoopoeprints.co.uk

Scarecrow

Following on in the crow theme this is my Scarecrow from 1991 on A1 print paper with emulsion, varnish and pencil. At the moment we have a very quiet pet seagull visiting early and late in the day, so beautiful.

Nora Reid

I admired this crow at the Glasgow Degree show, but I am nervous snapping at other peoples work and nerves got the better of me here. However (fantastic) Nora contacted me with her blog she has some beautiful line pictures of Scottish harbours and other treasures but I love her beady eyed Crow. Here is her blog to catch up with her past and look forward to the future work of Nora Reid http://www.mylittletowndesign.blogspot.com

Endangered Species by David Morrow

Loved this screen print by David Morrow illustrating the number of species in the wild and in captivity on the red list, very frightening numbers! very beautiful print.

Sharpening my fingers

My new pencil sharpener ring, I have wanted one for ages as I always forget my sharpener when I'm on outreach and there are never any there. Now, thanks to Gordon's fantastic Birthday present, at last I can make my own, cool isn't it?

Phillip Ritchie

A map of Britain constructed from headlines of local newspapers, by Phillip Ritchie.
I loved this because I used to be a press cutter many moons ago and I had to read all of those local papers and their funny, tragic and disturbing headlines. It is very clever and thought provoking piece of work that also has the appeal of an ancient map.

Eleanor Stewart

More from the very talented Eleanor Stewart. http://www.gsavis.com/index.php?/students/eleanor-stewart/

Book Animation by Eleanor Stewart

Stills from Eleanor Stewart's Rodeo, at Glasgow School of Arts Degree Show truely wonderful, you can see it here: http://www.gsavis.com/2009/index.php?/students/eleanor-stewart/

Selkies by Sandy McInnes

Little selkies sealed or pealed of their seal pelts, by Sandy McInnes, I believe they are porcelain and felt with etched surfaces. I have a soft spot for selkies and have written a song about them so this work really appealed to me. http://www.sandymcinnes.com/ sandyjmcinnes@hotmail.com
