Pigeon Post

My last (I think!) mail art for Paul Smith
This time I wanted to make a textile parcel, because when we were travelling around India over 20 years ago, we sent some parcels home and they were sewn into a calico wrap with wax seals and they looked magical.
So I have made another pigeon this time in calico, I wanted to include some pigeon food, so I made pigeon eggs from rice paper and stuffed them with corn. I had to pack the pigeon with bubble wrap to try protect the eggs.

Beaks for Beak Street II

I was planning on a pelican beak, but it took an unexpected twist when I saw this image from 3 years ago of a Pelican in a London Park who ate this poor pigeon alive.
So my pelican beak envelope now has a pigeon hidden inside it as well as its label, this pigeon can come out though.
The deadline for submissions of decorated envelopes has been extended (thank you Jeannie) by a month until 27th of May, instructions are here at Paul Smith's Blog.

Beaks for Beak Street I

Paul Smith is opening a new shop on Beak Street, London, and he has requested decorated envelopes on his blogI had shared it with my students as a fun project to be involved with.
Last night I got home and needed that solace of creativity, so I thought I would apply myself to it and then realised that I needed to do it now or never, as they have to be in London for Saturday.
Here is my beaks for Beak St a spoonbill beak and  flamingo beak, I want to do at least two more, maybe a curlew and a puffin.
