Christina Romeo

Bright portraits from Christina Romeo who's abstract work I featured last year. Christina's work has a sadness made more intense by the bright palette that she uses, her work is in mixed media and acrylic.

Face Painting Day 6

With a few weeks delay, here is face painting day 6 with Freya and her cousin Rowan, this is great fun and makes your children look terrifying.

Dan Badea II

Dan Badea often paints tables and food, again they are full of detail and fun observation.
"I want to create more a poetical atmosphere like in the 'Flower woman' theme, nostalgia, a return to affection.
For me, the expressivity, the vibration, the light are really important. Also, in my painting, the detail has the same importance like the entire; many of my compositions are made by
modules and you can find different influences of culture like Dubuffet painting or Basquiat graffiti. " Dan Badea

Dan Badea I

Dan Badea's work has so many styles and genres, some works being very abstract, others more like graffiti with their inclusion of text, most are of domestic scenes and yet others remind me of illustration. These works are of shops and kiosks. I like their layers of observation and the detail and texture.

Maria Pace-Wynters

Canadian artist Maria Pace-Wynters, akin to Jane, has a wonderful use of vivid contrasting colours and a lovely use of line in her paintings and mixed media works.
"I love to play with colour and I am really pleased with some of my colour experiments. My painting use to be very dark but when I had my children that seemed to change. I guess you could say that they brought colour into my life. I much prefer my palette now and when I look back on older paintings have to resist the urge to go back into them with some bold colour." Jane DesRosier II

I wanted to separately showcase some of Jane DesRosier's more contemporary portraits I do love her acid, contrasting pallet.

Jane DesRosier I

Jane DesRosier's vivid colour and patterns in the hair, clothing and background around her portraits  is stunning and contrasts with her more realistic depiction  of her models skin, in this her work uses the same pictorial language as Klimt. (thanks)

Aaron Leighton

I am late this morning, sorry sometimes the path forward is not so clear, however here we are with the work of Aaron Leighton. Aaron's work for me is like a graffiti of the mind, where he walks around the sprawl of cities and see magic.

"What makes a place special? Is it possible to discover the fantastical hidden in the familiar? If so, what might that look like? Spirit City is an ongoing project which address some of these questions while hopefully raising others. Combining my interests in urban landscapes, travel and mythology, the images suggest that the magical and the mundane can indeed coexist in the most unlikely of places, if only we look closely enough." Aaron Leighton

These images are all from Aaron Leighton's 'Spirit City of Toronto', the next city on Aaron's hit list is Berlin.
