Yesterday I was sad and shocked to hear of the death of the talented and lovely Vladimir Radunsky, an artist whose work I have blogged here many times.
Vladimir was an amazing photographer, as well an illustrator of over thirty books and a theatre/ costume designer. He was born in 1954 in the Ural Mountains of Russia he studied art and architecture in Moscow before migrating to the United States in 1982 where he lived in New York, laterly he had settled in Rome with his wife Eugenia and their two daughters.
These are Vladimir's watercolour and ink illustrations for 'On a Beam of Light' the story of Albert Einstein written by Jennifer Berne, published in 2013.
“What attracted me the most was that Einstein, like many other scientists, possessed certain qualities that made him a kindred spirit to many artists: not to take anything for granted, often break all existing rules, and constantly ask himself and others life-defining questions,” Vladimir Radunsky
This is a story that shows that noticing things, imagination and being different are qualities that can reveal the world's wonders. Vladimir had all these qualities, along with a warmth and love that was reflected in his creative works, he will be greatly missed and I am really grateful for the works he made and managed to get published.
