Ping Zhu I

I am going to keep with tigers for a while as they keep popping up before me.
Yesterday I loved going through the portfolios of Ping Zhu online and I especially liked, as they made me smile, was her folder of ugly drawings. Drawings that for what ever reason didn't quite work out, or as she says; 
"my worst nightmare communication between my head and hand went wrong. The grave, yet unashamed, errors of Ping Zhu" 

Vladimir Radunsky I

These illustrations or tiger diaries are a few of the eleven hand drawn calenders by Russian illustrator Vladimir Radunsky for the year of the tiger, on fabric or paper. 
I love these, they are my inspiration for this week, as are all of the works of Vladimir Radunsky and the gentle humour and love that shines from them.

Tiger

The year of the tiger and a gift of large sheets of brown paper, led to a wonderful collage project with various groups of students this week, a bit of competition (just a bar of chocolate) spiced everything up, I'm really pleased with the results.

Tiger Portraits

These Tiger portraits are hanging on the art room door at the moment, they were centre spread in the Guardian newspaper. Every time I walk through it they catch my eye and amaze me.
The portraits are the work of Barry Bland and are on display for the first time in a specially constructed studio in Carolina.
These images are of the four varieties of Bengal Tigers, they are amazingly revealing portraits of these tigers, and they give you insight into their age and characters as well as being stunningly beautiful and fascinating.

The Tiger Skin Rug by Gerald Rose

This Book by Gerald Rose is a dream, both my children continue to love it, its illustrations are fabulous and the story is just wonderful. It was published in 1979 by Faber and Faber, oh !that you could petition for books to be reprinted , if you can find a copy it comes highly recommended.
