Saul Steinberg

Roger Chouinard

It seems to be all about mouths so far this week and so I would like to introduce the work of graphic designer and artist Roger Chouinard who likes to create incidental illustrations using found objects. Roger's work reminds me of the creativity of Serg Bloch and Saul Steinberg.

Jean Jullien II

It is Jean Jullien's propensity to draw his comical line drawings on environments that has led to his recent residency at the Wythe Hotel, New York. Though I believe he only started out drawing on their windows, the drawings are spreading. . .

As I said yesterday I see a strong Saul Steinberg influence which I love as Saul is one of my favourite graphic, comic creatives of the last century. Below are two examples of Sauls interior drawings.

Good Day

Good day making Saul Steinberg inspired masks from cardboard, before students go on to paper mache and modrock ones.

Saul Steinberg's Masks

Saul Steinberg's fantastic masks.

I made some of these with my Kids a few weeks ago and I will be doing them with my students very soon so simple but wonderfully effective.

Saul Steinberg on Furniture

I have had this picture of a lady in a bath for a long time and I was unaware of who had created it. Now I am becoming educated, sad to say that it is the fantastic work of Saul Steinberg who passed away in 1999.
