Angus McFee

Following on from Joanne, I have to briefly mention one of my hero's and someone who's work has reduced me to tears.

Angus McFee (1916-1997) was an outsider artist originally from South Uist, who wove amazing objects, often clothing, with materials such as grass that he found in the grounds of Craig Dunain Hospital where he lived for over fifty years after being diagnosed schizophrenia. In South Uist like many of the Scottish Islands, crofters made the most of very limited resources and grass was woven to make rope for many purposes. Angus because of his situation took this traditional skill to extraordinary lengths and the stories of his wonderful creations will I hope amaze and inspire generations to come.

James Bassler

James Bassler has made these wonderful reinterpretations of brown paper bags woven from twisted brown paper and coloured yarns.

I especially love the long blue lozenge of the bottom picture, weaver and sculptor Merja Winqvist makes incredible cage/creel forms.

Mutsumi Iwasaki

John McQueen's work is fantastic, however there is very little of his work available on the Internet, I love it hope you love it too.

I love these stunningly crafted baskets by Irish craftsman and artist Joe Hogan. He also holds workshops, I would love to go.
