The last day of a wonderful challenge:
Prompt seven is: Mary Poppins was in the air now, floating away over the cherry trees and the roofs of the houses, holding tightly to the umbrella with one hand and to the carpet bag with the other.

Mary Poppins Challenge

Above: 'First Flight' by Sara Fanelli 2002

There is a new challenge #bksmarypoppins Mary Poppins running from 11-17th of August.  I don't really know the hold that Monty Lee's challenges have on me, but even when I don't like the subject I feel compelled and driven to research and participate.

Mary Poppins was the first film I ever went to see with cousins in Aberystwyth and for that reason the story holds a special place in my heart, but I have never ready the books and only know the Disneyfied version. Anyway I am looking forward to re-visiting this story in book form and hope to see you over on instagram.

The Prompts:

1. Admiral Boom's house was built exactly like a ship, it had a ships funnels, instead of chimneys and on the roof was a guilt weathercock shaped like a telescope.

2. The merry go round was just slowing down and as they approached it, they leapt on it, Mary Poppins on a black horse and Burt the match man on a grey horse.

3. Mr Wigg began again to laugh loudly and as he laughed he went bouncing and bobbing about in the air, with the newspaper rattling in his hands and his spectacles half on and half off.

4. On this night the red cow stood up suddenly and began to dance. She danced wildly and beautifully and in perfect time though she had no music to go by.

5. Mary Poppins took the sparkling gingerbread stars from her basket and glued them to the sky, where they twinkled furiously, sending out rays of golden light.

6. Four brown bears each wearing a peaked cap and coats with brass buttons were trundling trolleys of food.

7. Mary Poppins was in the air now, floating away over the cherry trees and the roofs of the houses, holding tightly to the umbrella with one hand and to the carpet bag with the other.
