Leo Tokmakov

Leo Tokmakov's (1928-2010) illustrations for  "Gelsomino in the land of liars" published in 1960 written by Gianni Rodari (1920-1980). This book has bold graphic illustrations, and in them, you can see the influence of modern early twentieth century masters of art throughout. The story that Gianni Rodari created was a very popular modern fairytale, however, it is a story that can be enjoyed and read on many levels and has as an adult reader reveals interesting views on corruption, society, and politics.

There is a interesting interview with Leo about his childhood here.
