Takashi Kobayashi is an architect of tree houses. He creates phenomenal structures high in the tree's canopy they are stunning. He has built over 25 and I hope he has a long and happy life building many many more.
This tiny house is built atop two chestnut trees. The architect Terunobu Fujimori, has observed that a tea house is “the ultimate personal architecture.” Its extreme compactness, which would at most accommodate four and a half tatami mats (2.7 square metres) or even just two tatami mats (1.8 square metres) of floor space, makes it feel as though it were an extension of one’s body, “like a piece of clothing.”
No Planning permission ! Yippee. Nikolai Sutyagin has spent over 15 years adding this modest extension to his two story house in Arkhangelsk and I love it. It is now reputed to be the worlds tallest wooden house at 144 ft tall that Nikolai describes as a happy accident. Of course it is threatened by officials, planners and disagreeable neighbours but at least it has a look out tower so he can see them coming.
