William Stobbs III

Wonderful to find another example of William Stobbs's (1914-2000) illustration in "Blossom finds a home' written again by Joan Cass and published in 1970. William was from south shields and graduated from Durham School of Art in 1938, he won the Kate Greenaway Medal in 1959.

I haven't posted any classics of children's illustration for a while. Most charity shops I go to no longer really stock any children's books, and if they do they only keep main stream ones.
However I was compelled to buy 'The Cat Thief' by Joan Cass, illustrated by William Stobbs when I saw it on Sheila Moxley's blog. I am not disappointed with my purchase the pictures are great.
