Mural East Wemyss Primary School

We have finished the mural, but with a mural like this you are never finished.
We have spent two days but I am sure we could easily spend two months.
Many many thanks to Victoria Emslie, Louise Foy, Lee Hutton and Lucie Mouchova who worked so hard in their own time to make this come together. Our school report so far is that it has changed the type of play the children are involved in and now there is a lot of circus play  . . . sounds good!
Might sneak back next week and paint that bench!

So far . . .

We still have work to do but everyone made a great start yesterday so one more sunny day next week and it should all be looking wonderful.
Yesterday there was a constant audience which was very funny, charming and wonderful. With great sounds of surprise, lovely comments  and conversations to overhear.

We had help

We had great fun

Soundsuits III

Amazing how much fun and creativity you can have with bin  liners, sellotape and a hair dryer. More here.

Soundsuits II

While Annabel made her sweet snowman soundsuit the other students were, working with black bin liners, making costumes,  far less sweet but great for changing shape and silhouette.
This was made even more dramatic  when I remembered the inflatable  street art of Joshua Allan Harris and we introduced his techniques and a hair dryer into the creative process.

Soundsuits I

My students are making soundsuits given the inspiration of Nick Cave and Lucy McRae. Annabel has already finished hers today and here she is hugging it in the bottom picture.

Life drawing inspired by Adam Neate

It is great to take inspiration from this blog and others into my classes and visa versa. Today in my second Life Drawing class with the Introduction to Creative Arts Students, I showed them and told them about the work of Adam Neate, and we  painted the figure on cardboard boxes. They did really well and I was pleased with the results.
