Rashin Kheiriyeh II

Rashin Kheiriyeh's illustrations for "Boy, Train and Bird" book, published in Iran, written by Ahmad Reza Ahmadi, and exhibited at the Illustration exhibition of this years Bologna Children's Book Fair.
Rashin's birds with collaged feathers are a delight as are the lovely characters who inhabit her pictures.
It has been eight years since I first blogged Rashin's work and her career has gone from strength to strength with her works selected for many international awards.

Mariann Maray

Mariann Maray is a Hungarian illustrator whose work 'Traveling on the Whale Bus' was selected for the Illustration exhibition at this years Bologna Children's Book Fair. Her work for me is very culturally interesting as it reminded me of Indian miniatures with its busy scenes, bright, bold colours and animals.

Adolfo Serra

One of the illustrators selected for the Illustrators Exhibition at the Bologna Children's Book Fair this year was Adolfo Serra with his delightful collaged displays of insects.

Because of the flat display of the works this year they were incredibly difficult to see and indeed photograph, due to the reflections and shadows, so please excuse the quality of the photos.

Noemi Batllori

Noemi Batllori's illustration 'El Animal Mas' written by Pere Juan simply and effectively illustrated with stamp prints in bold colour combinations. This book is about an ant believing he is big, realising that there are many creatures much bigger than him.

Natascha Durley

As ever, for me, it is the energy and impulsive drawings that capture fun and joy, and so I love these sketches of Tortoises by Natascha Durley who I found on the illustrator's wall in Bologna. Natascha's current body of work is collaged gatherings of animals and birds, which are repeated into patterns. Her inspiration being gathered from natural history museums, aquariums, and country walks.

Marta Sevilla I

Marta Sevilla's work caught my eye on the illustrator's wall at the Bologna Children's Book Fair, with her poor soon to be exposed character skirted with contact tabs.
I like the humour of her works.
