Diane Savona

Daine Savona is busy making fossils from textiles and I think they are wonderful.
Diane uses salvaged cloth, garments, domestic found objects and intensive hand stitching to create fossil specimens that present textiles as archaeological artefact's. Her art is an attempt to preserve our domestic history and re present amazing skills of past generations in a contemporary context.

This is actually some of my older work - you can see my newer art on my website - dianesavonaart.com - or even better, go to Fiberphiladelphia.org. This will tell you all about the 40 amazing textile shows that are coming to Philly, PA in 2012 (including a show, I'm curating - Mending=Art, and one with my newest work, Consuming Boundaries at the Perkins Art Center. Check it out!
