I have been working on sample/ stitch books with my students this term these are photographs of the pages before they were secured in to the books.

Gwen Samuels prints images onto transparencies and then stitches them by hand to create ghostly dresses, like negatives they are intimate and personal and somehow full of loss. " The images I choose are not presented in cinematic logic. they are fragments and details - with shape shifting, miniaturization and enlargement. Julia Griffiths Jones "I translate textile techniques such as stitching, quilting, patchwork, embroidery, into a wire and metal form: thus changing it's original nature and function but retaining the meaning and decoration" I suspect that julia's work is very hard to photograph and is even more magical to see in reality.
