Holiday

At last a chance to draw breath, and we are off on adventures for a few weeks.
Posts will continue, indeed it may be seamless here, but also there may be a day or two for you to catch up on the past, almost 9 years of art room plant.
Happy Holidays
The illustration here is by the wonderful Spanish illustrator Raul Nieto Guridi, whose wonderful, eloquent line say's so much with very little.

Rocio Araya Gutierrez II

I remember this feeling illustrated by Riocio Araya Gutierrez, of swimming through crops like peas, illustrated here in; Una historia verdadera: El Cuento de los Guisantes written by Juan Arjona. The illustrations in this book are so rich and magical, I want to dive in and swim again in peas, they evoke the smell, colour and joy of summer and celebrate the simple pea in all its green majesty.

Rocio Araya Gutierrez I

Above; watercolour and collage illustration by Spanish illustrator Rocio Araya Gutierrez, called 'The World We Want'. Below a collage oil pastel and charcoal illustration from 'Penelope'. Rocio has a fantastic loose, generous, lyrical style that has a fluid intriguing poetry.
The collage of Rocio's drawings creates an energy around the drawing, containing the action and individuals it acts to emphasise the dynamism of the drawing and heighten the disturbance of the air and animation in the narrative of the illustration.

Rocío Araya Gutiérrez I

It is a joy to share the illustrations of Rocío Araya  Gutiérrez, wonderfully collaged, and beautifully messy with visible overlaid working and drawing. Her work is a visual poetry full of story and joyful stories. Thank you Dom

Silvia Cabestany and Alex Nogués Otero

Silvia Cabestany has illustrated the fantastic story of; '7 Hombres con Bombín' by Alex Nogués Otero.

What a delight this story is, the story of seven serious, busy hard working men, suspicious and unhappy. One day the wind whisked off one of the bowler hats and in trying to retrieve it the men were shown beauty and a different way to live, to take time, see and enjoy. It is a book with wisdom for everyone and after reading it everyone will want the wind to show them a better path to follow.

Xavi Bou

I stop and wonder at birds in flight often so it should be of no surprise to me, the beauty of these time lapsed images gathered by Xavi Bou in a project called 'Ornitographies'. Where he makes visible the invisible patterns of flight.
