What am I up to: The Fruitmarket Fair II

Days start early in my studio, and as the sun rises, I have a visitor who knocks on my velux window to say he has arrived and I go out to feed the animals; currently one seagull, one rabbit, four chickens and a black cat.

I love my wild gull, he gets very demanding in the spring when he has young, but the reward is that their maiden flights are always over to our roof. The rest of the year he is an ever-present beauty and wonder, a silent companion standing patiently on the glass above my head.
I had to make revealer gulls their expandable crops make them the perfect muses.
The starfish image I did actually see, as a gull gulped two starfish down one after another and I could see the shape of them in the bird's gullet.

These images make me smile, I hope you like them too. Books, cards, and posters will be on sale at The Fruitmarket Gallery on Saturday and Sunday and they are slowly making it into my website shop as well.

The Arthouse

I love seagulls as you know, and oh how I love these paintings from an art collective called ArtHouse, I would love to see these made as tapestry's, they are just perfect with there wonderful muted pallet of colours and wonderful shapes. These paintings are available at Bohemia Gallery.

Five Faves II

A little late but here are my five faves for this week.
Encounters with wild life, of any kind.

The Forth has been wild tonight, the promenade closed, I love to see these huge waves crashing in, amazing.

Daffodils . . . Spring Spring Spring.

The evening song of blackbirds, when they perch on the highest tower, chimney pot or tree.

I recorded this on the way home tonight, this hedge is alive with sparrows, bliss.

Seagull Feet

At last I got a picture of the seagull on the window, I love looking up at her feet.

New Friend

We have been adopted, a silent patient friend waits for treats and water, a solid ship of feathers teetering on yellow stilt like mooring legs.

Seagull Old

This is a very old painting that was produced on the arrival of a beautiful new room mate who had a broken wing and spent many days all at sea on the waves of my duvet.
