Lucy Mulholland

Above: 'Care and Confusion' a magical push along hurdy gurdy of an instrument, you can see it being pushed along here.
Below: is a picture of Lucy Mulholland's graduate show at ECA including the 'Cats Ladder', which I had thought was a massive marble run, a cat run is even better!

"Care and Confusion translates a gesture made by my cat as he ran across the piano, into a physical object. Exploring the process of translation itself and how elements inevitably are changed or lost, both literally and it also caused by a fundamental misinterpretation of his action and my understanding of it. The choice to make an integrated music box and wheelbarrow was influenced by Yi-Fu Tuan’s book Dominance and Affection. Tuan explains the conceptual links between pet ownership and tending to a garden, which is a dichotomy of both care and control.." Lucy Mulholland

"Cat Ladder, (above) is a site specific sculpture made in response to the architecture of ‘human spaaaaaace,’ and is a nod to the changes needed to adapt these spaces in order to facilitate their use by other species." Lucy Mulholland

Marc Gosteli

Work from Marc Gosteli's degree show at ECA where he has been enjoying mixing traditional and digital marks and textures, to illustrate his comical historical work.

Below: Two photographs of illustrations on printed silk.

Below: Marc's diorama, a celebration of ballet and baroque opera. Inspired by the Magic Flute and the ballets of the French Royal Court.
