Harmke Paulides

I recently enrolled for a geliprinting course with Carla Sonheim, which I still haven't had chance to actually do. This horse is one of Harmke Paulides geliprint collages which she made on the course and I absolutely love it. Harmke is a cartographer and designer.

Bark!

Using these found bark shapes, fitted perfectly with the first challenge in Carla Sonheim's free kid's art week which I joined to occupy Freya and myself.
So if you are entertaining small people this week I highly recommend joining Carla's workshop and fitting a little art into your daily activities.

Carla Sonheim

Carla Sonheim has been finger painting and I love the results. Sometimes the simplest of techniques yield the best and most surprising images.

Carla Sonheim I

Carla Sonheim's creatures are just one element of her work as an artist. Sometimes they are so primitive and 'wrapped' that they remind me of James Castle's magical assemblages.

"Animals enrich our lives on so many levels… the facial expression of an irritated house-cat or the sheer bulk of a hippo inspire and nurture our souls. For me, creating my own menagerie of animals has a similar soul-healing effect…." Carla Sonheim
