Step this way: Fruitmarket Book Fair VI

This last two months has also led to my processing some of the bird poo pictures that I collected last year, because I see things everywhere and this Pareidolia had become obsessive, I knew I wanted to do something with what I saw. It is an odd hobby that has absolutely inspired and galvanised my creativity.

I have submitted a book to a publisher that I think (hope) will be open to the idea. Some of the images not used in that book I have made into 'Step this way'. One of the things I love about these pictures are the surface textures of roads, pavements and gutters, as in the work of the Boyle family, they suddenly make you aware of what you are standing on and show the beauty of the mundane.

'One Day I looked down' is a project by Sue Mitchell in 2012 during a years art sabbatical, Sue was photographing trees and looked down observing some other interesting imagery.
Sue embellishes her bird poo sightings with found objects, sticks, leaves and pebbles to 'draw out' the image.

I have been interpreting 'Alice in wonderland through bird poo making tiny adjustments with photoshop to achieve more of a likeness, hope I find a cheshire cat soon to add to this collection.

Looking too hard

Now I that I have exposed other illustrators, for this habit of seeing things in odd places, I feel free to expose myself . So here are some things that I have seen, looking too hard at things I shouldn't look at and letting photoshop help.

I start the week in bad taste, maybe, depending on how sensitive you are.
Illustrator Tineke Meirink posted something that I had wanted to do for years, a wee feature of 'Shitty Artists'.
For years, walking around creative, surreal; landings/ prints? of bird poo have caught my attention and I have thought of drawing 'out' what I see with chalk, however Photoshop attracts less attention and disgust.
Tineke sees things everywhere, so it was no surprise really that she had seen things in the poo as well, in fact it was affirming and encouraging.
What ever your thoughts, after today you may not see these innocent deposits in quite the same way.
