"Like Milo, I was a soldier and so was my dad. For a long time, I didn’t know that I was also wearing armor, but I felt the weight of it anyway. It was heavy and invisible, and it prevented me from connecting to my emotions and being empathetic toward others. I was playing the role of a tough guy, but I didn’t feel sure of myself. I was a like a fortified castle and my armor was protecting me — but it also held me prisoner. When I got back from my deployment, my defences began to crumble.
