This is a book about how badly we often deal with loss and death and especially when sharing our grief with little ones. In the book the grandmother who has been ill in hospital returns home and all of the relatives gather intensely talking, laughing, or crying and the children need to escape. 

Eventually, they find sanctuary under grandma's wonderful bold fringed scarf, the wise grandmother provides a safe place for imaginations to run free of the adult world, a place to think and process what is happening in their family.
