I found this odd little book in Norwich and just wanted it for its strangeness. It is 'Nothing at All' by Wanda Gág, it corresponded with a radio program I had been listening to by Ken Hollings about Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche (1844 –1900), who had said; "you cannot think things for which you have no words".
This book starts with three kennels and two children who find two puppies and take them home leaving 'nothing-at-all', poor nothing-at-all left alone has to find himself.
With the help of a Jackdaw and a little magic, he manages to make himself visible and make himself and others aware of what he is.
This is a very surreal book published in 1968. Wanda Gág (1893-1946) was born in Minnesota and posthumously awarded the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award for 'Millions of Cats'.
She was definitely a talented world-builder!
