To look through the sketchbooks of Japanese illustrator Kousuke Takebayashi is to wander the museums of the world. Here I have selected his studies from a visit to Kyoto Zoo, lively studies mixed with text, in different media, looking at the full zoo population of visitors and residents, comparing and noticing the similarities between the birds and animals and their human spectators.
