Reiner Zimnik I
These historic books for children are fascinating sometimes in their content and approach and so refreshing to what can be market driven banality of current children's book production. Jonas The Angler was Reiner Zimnik's second book published in 1954 it was also adapted for television. That this is a book about fishing is amazing but also the space of the drawings pages given over to wiggly lines of ripples. I do love the simple elegance of Reiner's lines and the use of perspective as well as the portrayal of vistas somehow he has captured slow time.
