Shinro Ohtake's Uncle Jari published in 1994, is a surreal book about an old man with a bristly nose. and the adventure he goes on. This book won the 43rd Shogakkan Painting Award and a Gold Trophy at the Biennale Children´s book Illustrations Bratislava 1995. Shinro combines crayon, watercolour, pencil and gouache in a messy, interesting work much like the creators big art works, and is a fascinating and popular work of children's literature.
