Edward Ardizzone

Also exhibited in the House of Illustration was a major retrospective exhibition of the life and work of Edward Ardizzone (1900-1979). When visiting these exhibitions I love to see the original illustrations and witness how each illustrator works, the adjustments, repairs, scribbled notes and bleed lines that they have made in the development. Above are some illustrations from Diana and Her Rhinoceros.
This is a very rich exhibition with lots of original works to see and also features a lovely film with people remembering the artist and details of how his cats would always sit on and often ruin his work. Edward was a painter, printmaker and illustrator of many genres.
