Inspiration from Carll Cneut

Carll Cneut was today's class's inspiration. I took photocopies of birds got the students to choose one and then cut it in half encouraging them to draw the missing half.
I think this would be a great class with many different subjects and types of students, it was certainly well received in this class.

  1. They're all extremely interesting, but I must say that the drawings by 'ROE' are very accomplished in form and mark-making. The variety of marks in the sparrow hawk is particularly impressive and appealing.

I'm just about to start filming animation to accompany a performance of Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale at the Hay Festival. The past weeks have been filled with making articulated maquettes, and on Monday I start putting them through their paces. Time has been very short on this project, so I'm feeling a combination of excitement and flat-out fear!

  4. How fun! It reminds me of a mix and match book I just made for my nieces and nephews of things of the sea. These birds turned out great!
