I did not realise that Kvĕta Pacovská was a wonderful octogenarian. I mistakenly assumed that she was a fresh faced graduate illustrator, due to the luminous. vibrant modern illustrations she creates.
I have a wonderful book 'The Little Tulip King' that I bought for Freya, which I have to confess is at work as an example.
What a celebration of life and love this lady and her works are.
Love her work and her energy!
ReplyDeleteLet's hope to have the same when we get there.
Have a great week, Hazel.
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI remember her work from my childhood... Her "Svět pohádek bratří Grimmů" (World of Grimm's tales) was quite scary, but i loved it. Thank you for this post!
ReplyDeleteYou may easily meet her in Bologna Hazel. It happened to me a couple of years ago. I recognized her while wandering around and I dared to stop her. I needed to be reassured as a selftaught illustrator and I showed her a few pictures of mine. She's small and light, sort of feather...
ReplyDeleteI am so looking forward to this adventure :-D
Deleteshe's great!
ReplyDeleteEternellement fan :)
ReplyDeleteOooh yes, I've loved her work since I came across a book in the V&A bookshop years and years ago and always get far too over excited when I see a new bit of her work. I love the world she creates.
ReplyDeleteI ADORE Kveta -- thanks so much Hazel for these images, which were not familiar to me.
