Mose Tolliver I
Mose Tolliver (1920-2006) had 13 children 11 of whom survived to adulthood. In the 1960's he had an accident where his legs were crushed by marble. The accident left him unable to work and so he had more time to devote to painting, something he had always pursued as a hobby.
He was to be come the most celebrated folk artist of Alabama.
I do not know what this collection of creatures by Mose are, some remind me of moles others of insects or strange tree cones with legs but I love their graphic simplicity and boldness.
