La Wilson II

 

 

La Wilson is an assemblage artist who creates 'stories' by juxtaposing items gathered from flea markets and collections of all sorts of objects without judgement "if something appeals to me I get it". 
"I don't have anything in my head that I want them to say . . . so its entirely what happens when they get together, that makes the story. So the story is brand new to me just as much as it is to you when you look at the work." 
I think it is this surprise of creation is what makes La Wilson's works so appealing and fun, and has obviously given her great pleasure during her career.
