Donald Saaf

Donald Saaf's works are densely populated despite usually only featuring one main character. It is as if he can see ghosts and his paintings allow us to see them too, not in a haunting, melancholic manner but more in a thread of life way with people watching over the main characters, looking out for them. Donald Saaf is an American artist who works not only as a painter but also in sculpture, illustration and music. Donald's works are influenced by naive and folk art and art forms such as quilts.

  1. So densely populated and yet so... laconic. As I saw it first, I thought he was a northern european artist, perhaps swedish...

  2. Very beautiful. For some reason I feel there's a lot of singing going in on in the world these figures inhabit;-)
