Vollis Simpson started this amazing work in the mid 1980's. What began as a hobby for himself, and entertainment for his neighbours, has grown into a wonder, a giant kinetic art installation. It has also given this 91 year old retired agricultural equipment engineer, a second vocation as a renowned artist. The colour and energy of this field of whirligigs and windmill sculptures is breathtaking. I love these wild feats of creativity, they are life affirming, wonders of the world.
These are delightful! Thanks for letting me know about Vollis and his unstoppable creative spirit! I hope I'm as vibrant, busy and creative at his age!
