Here to compliment the work of my students is a still life by Dick Ket (1902-1940) a Dutch painter who was born with a heart defect that unfortunately meant the he was very frail and died very young. His work due to the limitations of illness, was mainly still life and self portraits.

Kiejstut Bereźnicki II

More still life paintings by the Polish artist  Kiejstut Bereznicki, Kiejstut also pains many portraits but these still life studies are ordered and painted in such a way that they are very calm and appealing to me now.

Kiejstut Bereznicki

I am really enjoying still life paintings and drawings just now. I don't quite know why it has been years since I painted one but I think it may be time for me to revisit this subject. These beautiful paintings by Kiejstut Bereźnicki have such a calm order and beautiful colour palette.
Kiejstut Bereznicki was born in 1935 in Poznan he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, he has worked as an artist and lecturer at the Academy since 1960.

Rebecca Green

Rebecca Green is an illustrator living in Colorado who dreams of being a full time animator.
This painting she produced almost as a distraction from her illustration work and I almost thought I had wrongly labeled it when I tried to find it again as it is quite different from her usual work,  but I found it again on Rebecca's blog and I think it is lovely.
"I hate the idea of shoving myself in a box and having to simplify everything. I like working on the verge of realism sometimes." Rebecca Green

Bea van Twillert

In case you hadn't noticed I am definitely in a painting mood at the moment and tonight I found the delicate work of Dutch painter Bea van Twillert . These works reminded me of this time of year, when it is the end of summer and you want to prolong the day and the summer by bringing the flowers in as company, colour, light and fragrance.
Bea has been living and working in the famous Ameland since 2000 her work has that cool palette and space of northern European artists.

Emily Ferretti II

Emily Ferretti is a young Melbourne based artist who's work is mainly focused on still life, however her still lives usually feature singular objects, they are calm and focused pieces where the artist and then the viewer are so absorbed in the object that it starts to abstract into pattern.
