Pierre Boncompain III

In these simple compositions by Pierre Boncompain I can see why his work has been appreciated and widely exhibited in Japan. Some of these simpler works remind me of Henri Matisse's figures and collage.

Pierre Boncompain II

Thank you Júlia Mesquita for introducing me to Pierre Boncompain and his figures who seem so at ease and so relaxed.

Pierre Boncompain I

It was yellow that attracted me to one of Pierre Boncompain's paintings and so I shall start with yellow in this collection of tabletop still lives. Pierre Boncompain was born in 1938 in Valence, Provence and encouraged in his talents as an artist. He studied first at the French National Academy of Decorative Arts and then the National Academy of Fine Arts work has a great peace to it with often large blocks of bright colour anchoring the eye so that the viewer wants to linger a while and take in the details and pattern.
