Edith Witt-Hidé I

'This is Yellow and this is Red' published in 1968 illustrated by Edith Witt-Hidé(1928-2009). Edith was born in Berlin in 1928 in 1947 she attended the University of Applied Arts Berlin and graduated in 1951, she then continued her studies at University of Fine Arts until 1956. In the decade after finishing her art training she worked painting furniture and ceramics. Between 1965-1987 she published over seventy children's books and worked on many other illustration projects. In the last 3 decades of her life she worked exclusively as a painter, and it is the glimmers of painterly techniques that you see in her illustrations, particularly the mixing of colour which is magical.
