This image by Donald Saff made me think of blackberry picking and autumn, with it's spiky seed head flowers, muted colours and collaged maps. These new 'flower paintings by Donald will be exhibited at the George Marshall Gallery Store in York Maine. Opening October 7th and running until November 12th.

Donald Saaf's work for today, with this intriguing figure supping tea in a pond or a lake. Donald uses old papers collaged with painting and drawing to create his characters.
Today is this blogs eighth Birthday but I cannot rest or celebrate, I have two deadlines; one accounts and another a competition, so I shall try to think myself into a warm pool with a cup of tea . . . calm thoughts.

Donald Saaf's works are densely populated despite usually only featuring one main character. It is as if he can see ghosts and his paintings allow us to see them too, not in a haunting, melancholic manner but more in a thread of life way with people watching over the main characters, looking out for them. Donald Saaf is an American artist who works not only as a painter but also in sculpture, illustration and music. Donald's works are influenced by naive and folk art and art forms such as quilts.
