Little Robin Red Vest by Jan Fearnley

This book has been a Christmas favourite in my house for 10 years or more, It has lovely illustrations and is a story of generous spirit, I highly recommend it.

Tapir

I had to put a real tapir baby in, as their markings are wonderful and I think it took until this year for me to see one.

If I wanted Hitomi's elephant book, her Tapir one is just to die for.

Pija Lindenbaum

This Swedish artist and illustrator has created some wonderful illustrations, I love her wolves on their backs, with their pads in the air. Pija's books have been translated into Japanese, French, German and many other languages, she deals with subjects like fear, jealousy and loneliness.

Luckily this one is available in English (Bridget and the Grey Wolves) and I'm thrilled, as its winging it's way to me now. However the Swedish books that Pija has published are supposed to be more daring than we are allowed, so I may soon be trying to read Swedish children's books, even me reading Scots ones makes my family laugh until they cry, but maybe thats not such a bad thing.

Little Mole by Zdeněk Miler

I wish that children's programmes would include older animation classics like 'Little Mole' (Krtek) by the Czechoslovakian illustrator and Animator Zdeněk Miler with its simple kindness, gentleness and beauty.

Beware Petunia by Roger Duvoisin

Got a fantastic book sent to me today, the illustrations are just wondrous, but then it is my favourite illustrator, Roger Duvoisin. I have posted more images at flickr for you to enjoy.

Another favourite children's book from Gerald and Elizabeth Rose the wonderful story of 'Old Winkle and the Seagulls' wonderful evocative illustrations and a generous spirited story of kindness and hope.

'The Happy Lion' by Louise Fatio illustrated by Roger Duvoisin

I have loved Roger Duvoisin's illustration for years now and avidly collect his books but 'The Happy Lion', a book written by his wife Louise Fatio, remains my absolute favourite.
