Cate Edwards III

My third post on Cate Edwards. I love the simple composition of this watercolour and its underlying circular abstract design.

Cate Edwards II

Cate Edwards often returns to the theme of walled gardens I like the way this theme allows her to divide the pictorial space and change the colours, "The walled garden emphasises both inside and outside. The wall keeps some people in and keeps others out. There are secrets and security. There is the waiting to be let in; the promise of an oasis, a nest." Cate Edwards

Cate Edward's paintings are rich with layers of decoration and texture. "I have been exploring the liveliness that comes from placing transparency and opacity near each other. I find pen and ink comforting and love nothing more than to spend hours 'doodling' and watching the pieces evolve."
