Canary Day II
I don't know whether it was seeing Polly Cameron's book first thing in the morning, or just the mood I was in, but when I came to changing my bed sheets I sat for a while with my sketchbook and pondered the strange saying 'Having a Hairy Canary'.
Here in Scotland this means 'flying into a rage', so I have started drawing hairy canaries and find that it is a very good way to stop myself having one.
Polly Cameron I
"When Polly Cameron overheard a 10-year-old ask "What's gray?" and a 5-year-old answer "A melted penguin," she decided to investigate this odd kind of humour and began collecting riddles for a book. She enlisted the help of two young friends in the neighbourhood Elizabeth Miles and Callie Angel, as her "editors." They installed a "Joke Box" at the local Palisades Country Store, and received over three hundred riddles from neighbourhood children." source
