Victor Ambrus I

And like that I am off on a new tangent of BBC music books, with this fabulous blue one by Victor Ambrus (1935-2021) published in 1974.

Victor studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts for three years (1953–56), however his four-year course was interrupted by the 1956 Hungarian Revolution against the Soviet-backed government, during which a building that he and his fellow students held came under fire from the Soviets. He fled Hungry in 1956 for Austria and then England where he won a Gulbenkian scholarship to study printmaking and illustration at the Royal college of Art for three years (1957–60).

  1. Any (art) tangent is a worthwhile tangent!
