I love this illustration and often think that the way the globe is portrayed must influence a countries status and how the people view themselves in different societies. for example here in Scotland, we are always shown to be much smaller than we are in relation to England.
Yiting Lee is wanting to turn these 'globe' perceptions upside down:
Recently a sculpture art display in London - "The World Turned Upside Down" caused a few controversial discussion. What I want to say is, the world map is not so easy to define if you think deeper (And as an artist we should!) When you learn more about the world, you'd know there are a lot to work on. I think as an artist, we should always stand for the minority, to help, to break the injustice in the world. Not just follow the official definition. Some Chinese people put pressure to LSE and ask them to change Taiwan into China territory on the artwork, I feel really disappointed. As an Taiwanese, if the upside down art didn't show any difference from the world we living now, I rather Taiwan stay the same as it is.Therefore, I want to invite you to do a challenge. Please illustrate a handstand globe in your style, and use the hashtag #handstandglobe" Yiting Lee
