Nicolas Sidjakov

Nicolas Sidjakov (1924 -1993) was a Latvian  illustrator who trained in Paris and worked as a graphic designer and in the French film industry. In 1954 he moved to the United Stated where he started to illustrate children's books.
Emperor and the Drummer Boy by Ruth Robbins, illustrated by Nicolas Sidjakov was published in 1962 simultaneously in English and French. The Emperor and the Drummer Boy has fantastic illustrations printed in three colours with stunning patterns and line work, it is almost like a piece of scrimshaw.

  1. Wonderful illustrations! He has illustrated a few more, it looks like all of them are little gems. Thanks for sharing!
