Adam Kilian

Polish artist and puppeteer Adam Kilian's (1923-2016) wonderful woodcut illustrations of 'The Wizard of Oz'. Adam studied architecture in Nottingham 1944-48, before returning to Poland to become a managing director and set designer for the Idle Dreams Theatre, a theatre established by his mother. His full and creative life encompassed illustrating many books,  graphic design and television productions, as well as being creative director of numerous theatres. Adam Kilian had a love of traditional folk art and colour and this is clear in his creative output across all the genre's in which he practiced.
