Bread sketches

It has been a busy month as I have been establishing my new painting and decorating business and in any time off, I have been making bread. I was really inspired having seen a video of Slovenian baker Anita Šumer, who cuts designs into her loaves and wanted to try decorating the surfaces of my bread, now I cannot stop! You need a very sharp blade and you score the surface after the second proving, before you put the loaf in the oven. You can add colour using spices, herbs, chocolate or flour, it is completely addictive, compelling and you get a delicious 'sketchbook'.
